Crossing over from providing services on demand to building other income streams

Most of you know me and know that I am a service provider, ghostwriting to be exact. I love to write and this was an easy way for me to build an income but it's not where I want to be. After writing on demand for about 4 years, with almost two years full-time, I am ready to move past this stage.
I have been attempting to move in this direction for several months. I have ten report ideas in my notebook, a bunch of domains with plans for each and have even launched one site that sells PLR products. However, I still have to maintain a certain income level to pay the bills so it makes it hard to find the time to take action on my plans.
I will be launching monthly PLR memberships next week so this is a big step in the right direction. My goal is to use those to replace my ghostwriting income so that I can focus on creating my own sites and products. Most of the writing for the memberships have already been outsourced so I will be proofing/editing as needed instead of focused on writing for them.
I think I'm moving in the right direction finally but I'd love to hear from others who have been in this same type of situation. Is there anyone here who started off providing services and then grew a full-fledged business?

Hi, Tina. Your story and your plans inspire me. I left employment outside of the home about 3-4 years ago to develop my interests in providing freelance writing services from home. My first plan was to research magazine writing markets via the Internet.
However, before that really started to develop, I got enticed online by the promise of Internet Marketing income. I've been trying to find the right mix of products, services and website platform and I'm getting closer to how I want to set things up (autopilot income) ... but not there yet.
In the mean time, several local freelance writing clients have "found me" and some of them have been increasing the frequency or volume of material they want. The pay is awesome ... but it is cutting into my Internet Marketing time and plans! (Are we NEVER happy? lol)
What I like best about the plans you have outlined for your online business is how you are outsourcing the writing needs for your PLR memberships, freeing YOU up to focus on the other areas you want to develop.
I think that should be the aim of every business person: In the beginning, learn the business hands-on. But then find ways to outsource so you don't HAVE to be the one chained to the desk every day. That's one of the reasons why we desire to be entrepreneurs — to achieve a lifestyle of freedom and choice!
